Actualmente vive all铆 otra familia.
Todav铆a hab铆a luz de d铆a.
Aquello llam贸 mi atenci贸n.
Entonces levant茅 la cabeza y mir茅 hacia arriba.
Alrededor de aquella luz central hab铆a luces m谩s peque帽as, dispuestas en l铆neas rectas.
Permanec铆 mir谩ndolo durante aproximadamente trece, catorce o quiz谩 quince segundos.
Estaba completamente inm贸vil.
Estaba demasiado cerca y parec铆a demasiado grande.
Mis padres no cre铆an mi relato.
No pretend铆a demostrar cient铆ficamente qu茅 hab铆a sido aquel objeto.
Nunca olvid茅 aquella imagen.

City and Country: Mendoza, Argentina
Date of Incident: March or April 1983, during the Easter period

Ver贸nica was eight years old when she experienced something that would remain deeply connected to her childhood memories. The events date back to March or April 1983, during the Easter period, when she lived with her family in the Sixth Section of the city of Mendoza, Argentina.
Decades later, Ver贸nica still remembers many details of that afternoon with remarkable clarity and has decided to share her experience publicly. Her account takes us back to an ordinary moment from her childhood, in a very different era from today and in a family setting that still holds an important place in her memory.
Make yourself comfortable, because a new UFO Testimony begins here.
My name is Ver贸nica Mascar贸. I currently live in Saint-Vincent, in Italy’s Aosta Valley, where I have resided since February 2024. However, the story I am about to tell happened a long time ago, when I was only eight years old and living in the province of Mendoza, Argentina.
My first visual contact experience occurred in 1983. I cannot remember the exact date, but I do remember that it was around Easter, so it must have happened sometime between March and April of that year. Despite all the time that has passed, certain images and sensations from that afternoon have remained etched in my memory.
I was roller-skating in the courtyard of my house. We lived on the corner of Coronel Rodr铆guez and Avelino Maure, in the Sixth Section of the city of Mendoza. Another family lives there now.
It was approximately six or six-thirty in the evening. There was still daylight.
As I was skating, at one point I noticed something strange: the intensity of the sunlight diminished. It was similar to what happens when a cloud passes in front of the Sun, although I remember the dimming seemed more intense than usual.
That caught my attention.
So I raised my head and looked up.
There was something enormous above me.
The first thing I could see was what, from my position, looked like a gigantic metallic ceiling. At that moment, I could not tell where the object began or ended because the courtyard of my house was rectangular and surrounded by walls. My field of view was limited by those walls, and because of the extraordinary apparent size of whatever was above me, I could only see part of its underside.
I remember that it seemed to cover not only the courtyard, but a considerably larger area.
I was also struck by how close it appeared to be. Over the years, I have tried to estimate the distance using references that a child could understand. My impression is that it was about fifteen meters above the ground, perhaps even less. To put it another way, I estimated the distance to be roughly equivalent to the height of a three-story building.
From below, I could see a dark gray, opaque, apparently metallic surface. The material appeared predominantly smooth, although there were some streaks or variations in its texture.
There were also three sections that I remember as shapes resembling trapezoids. They were the same dark gray color as the rest of the surface, but had a different relief or texture. Within those trapezoids, numerous tiny designs could be seen—a kind of texture or small pattern. In trying to explain their appearance, I have always compared them to certain decorative plasterwork on a wall: very small raised designs distributed across the surface.
I do not know whether it is easy to convey in words exactly what I observed. I was eight years old and, naturally, did not have the technical or geometric vocabulary that an adult might use. Nevertheless, that texture remained imprinted in my memory.
In the center of the underside of the object, I saw a large circular light. I initially remember it as orange, although for a few seconds I had the impression that it took on a yellowish hue.
Around that central light were smaller lights arranged in straight lines. Those rows of small lights appeared near each of the trapezoid-shaped sections I just described.
I observed all of this from below.
I was never able to see what the top of the object looked like.
I remained looking at it for approximately thirteen, fourteen, perhaps fifteen seconds. That may not sound like long, but to me they were some of the longest seconds of my life.
I stood completely still.
For many years, I have used words such as “paralyzed” or even “hypnotized” to describe my state, although I do not remember feeling that an external force was controlling my body. I think it was more likely the shock of what I was witnessing. I was conscious and carefully observing the details. My mind was trying to analyze whatever was above me, but at the same time I was profoundly astonished.
I was an eight-year-old girl trying to understand something for which I had no frame of reference.
Then the object began to leave.
I remember it ascending almost vertically, at something close to a ninety-degree angle, although with a slight tilt. It was precisely because of this trajectory that I was never able to clearly see its upper surface.
It was during this departure that, for the first time, I was able to understand its overall shape.
It was round.
The difference between the apparent size of the object and the dimensions of our courtyard was difficult for me to explain. Over the years, I found a simple comparison: imagine that my courtyard were a tiny square button measuring just one centimeter. In comparison, the object above my head would have been like the circular lid of a cooking pot measuring twenty-five or thirty centimeters across.
That, at least, is the impression of its proportions that stayed with me.
That is why, when I initially looked up, I could not make out its complete shape. It was too close and seemed too large. Only when it began moving away could I see it with enough perspective to distinguish its circular outline.
Its ascent was extraordinarily fast. According to my memory, it took approximately four or five seconds to disappear into the sky and vanish from sight.
There is an expression I used immediately afterward that I still remember because I said it to my mother. I told her that the object had “gone into the sky like a suppository.”
It may sound funny now, and I laugh about it myself when I remember it, but that was the comparison an eight-year-old girl came up with to explain what she had just witnessed.
The visual impression was truly strange: it seemed as though the blue sky were a piece of fabric and the object had passed through that surface to the other side. I am not claiming that this is literally what happened; it was simply how my eyes and my childhood mind interpreted its disappearance.
I remember another detail.
When the object began to leave, I felt a slight breeze over my head. It was similar to the air produced by a fan running gently. That current of air was enough to move my hair slightly.
The sound, however, was not loud.
I do not remember a roar or any deafening noise. It was a faint and peculiar sound that, for years, I have tried to describe by comparing it to the sound of a boomerang. It is difficult to put into words an auditory perception experienced for only a few seconds, but that is the association that remained in my memory.
My mother managed to see it for approximately two seconds.
I had called out to her and she came quickly, but by the time she looked up, the object was already moving away. As I remember it, by then it looked like a small circle against the sky. She managed to see something just before it disappeared, although she was never completely certain what she had seen.
That difference would become important later.
For me, the experience had lasted long enough for me to observe the object directly above my head and make out some of its details. My mother, on the other hand, had only witnessed the final moments of the phenomenon, when it was already much farther away.
Over the years, many people have said something understandable to me: if such a large object was so close, surely someone else should have seen it.
That is a question I have asked myself as well.
However, the entire episode lasted less than twenty seconds. Just think about how often we go several minutes without ever looking up at the sky. Twenty seconds can pass very quickly. Furthermore, my observation began from inside a courtyard enclosed by walls, and it happened at a time when there were no mobile phones with cameras readily available at all times.
Years later, when I was already an adult, I spoke with some neighbors in an attempt to find out whether anyone else remembered anything connected with that afternoon.
During my childhood, however, the situation was different.
My parents did not believe my account. My mother was also unsure about what she had managed to see during those very brief seconds. At the time, moreover, speaking publicly about UFOs or experiences of this kind could lead to ridicule. People who reported similar events were often regarded as imaginative, unstable, or even mentally ill.
My mother eventually took me to a psychiatrist because she wanted me to stop talking about what, according to her, I “believed I had seen.”
But to me, it was not a belief.
It was a memory.
Over the years, that situation continued to leave me with a feeling that is difficult to explain. On one occasion, much later, I finally said to a psychologist:
“Why are they trying to convince me that I didn’t see what I saw? No one can convince me that I didn’t see it.”
I was not trying to scientifically prove what that object had been. What I was defending was something far more personal: I knew that I had experienced it through my own perception and that the memory was still there.
I am now fifty-one years old, and I still regard that episode as my first close-range visual contact experience.
Afterward, I observed phenomena that I interpreted as UFOs on other occasions, although always from considerably greater distances, as is the case with most sightings reported by other people.
That sighting was different.
I never forgot that image.
And although so many years have passed, I have never forgotten the feeling of that little girl who, for a few seconds on an Easter afternoon in Mendoza, stopped skating, looked up, and tried to understand what it was that she was seeing above her head.
